Street Ambassadors
The most important volunteer position! Street Ambassadors are the official event hosts and street safety monitors. Volunteers are stationed at intersections or are roving the street to help set up/take down barricades, keep cars off the route and help pedestrians and cyclists move safely through the busy event.
Street Ambassadors also help answer questions and count participants during their shift.
There are 3 shifts to choose from:
10:45am-1:15pm, 12:30pm-3:15pm, 2:30pm-5:00pm

Zone Assistants
Get in the zone! Help make sure the event is safe and fun for everyone! As a Zone Assistant, you will be supporting Zone Leaders with shift breaks, supporting Street Ambassadors in their role and help keep areas moving so it's easier and safer for folks to travel along the route.
There are 3 shifts to choose from:
10:00am-1:00pm, 12:45pm-3:15pm, 3:00pm-5:15pm

Zone Leaders
Own Your Zone! Support other volunteers in making sure the event is safe and fun for everyone! Keep track of and support Street Ambassadors in your zone, engage with event goers with questions and support the Volunteer Coordinator as needed. Since this is an all day volunteer position, there is a $75.00 stipend included!
All Day Shift: 9:15am-5:15pm
Plus 1.5 hour MANDATORY Zone Training.

Set Up Crew
Prepare the street and help open it to thousands of people! The Set Up crew helps move barricades into place during the rolling open of the street.
A bike is required.
Help us make Open Streets welcoming and safe for all!

Volunteer Greeters
Greet the many volunteers that make Open Streets safe and fun for everyone!
Help staff with tent and material set-up, help volunteers sign-in, give t-shirts to volunteers and support staff break times.

10:00am-12:30pm, 12:15pm-2:30pm, 2:15pm-5:00pm

Planeteers
Planeteers get to see the whole event AND save the planet! We want to leave a good impression in the neighborhood and leave no traces behind of the fun had during the event. Volunteers are needed to help pick up the trash and recycling along the route, and help sort waste in bins during the event. Gloves, bags, pinchers and praise provided.
There are 2 shifts to choose from:
12:00pm-2:30pm and 2:30pm-5:00pm

Outreach Tent Crew
Staff Our Tents! A great way to meet a lot of people!
Share information about Open Streets and Our Streets Minneapolis' work. Be a friendly face to curious event goers! Provide resources to navigate the event and answer questions. Volunteers will also be helping with setting-up and breaking down tents as well as selling our wonderful Open Streets Merchandise.
There are 3 shifts to choose from:
10:30 am-1:00 pm, 12:45 pm-3:15pm, 3:00 pm-5:00 pm

Break Down Crew
As a Break Down Crew Volunteer, you have the important role of rolling up and down the Open Streets route reminding bikers, walkers and rollers that the street will be returned to car traffic at 5pm. Volunteers will also support in removing barricades off the route. Make it a team effort and invite some friends to join you as well!
A bike is required for this volunteer role.
1 shift: 4:15 pm - 5:15 pm

Roving Photographers
Are you an aspiring professional photographer with your own camera? Volunteer to use your photography skills to capture the spirit of the Open Streets! While anyone can and should take photos to document the event, we would love to know who will be out and when.
Have your photos featured on the Our Streets Minneapolis and Open Streets websites. Roving Photographers may also help promote Open Streets by posting to social media during or after the event.
Shift time is flexible, we will work with your time!

Outreach Street Crew
The Outreach Crew volunteers plays a huge role in our advocacy work! Volunteers will be engaging with Open Streets participants about their ideas on how we can make the streets a place to connect communities where people can comfortably bike, walk and roll. Join the team in making streets for people!
